Malaysia turns to Dutch NGO to help revive polluted rivers

Moving from Class V to Class III in Water Quality:

The Klang River, once ranked as Class 5 for water quality due to severe pollution, has undergone significant improvement through efforts under the Selangor Maritime Gateway (SMG) initiative. The river’s water quality has improved to Class 3 today, marking crucial progress towards our ultimate goal of achieving a healthy and thriving ecosystem.

The SMG initiative, with the aid of two Interceptors by The Ocean Cleanup complementing our seven log booms, and continuous water monitoring, is dedicated to restoring the river’s health, making it a cleaner, safer environment for the communities that rely on it. Our journey continues as we push towards a future where the Klang River becomes a symbol of sustainability and environmental recovery. ????????
