MBDK launches campaign to clean up Sungai Klang
The Klang Royal City Council (MBDK) has launched the “Love Klang River” community-based programme to encourage residents along Sungai Klang to participate in cleaning the river. Led by Mayor Datin Paduka Noraini Roslan, the cleaning effort targets to improve water quality and protect wildlife habitats, aligning with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
Starting in Kampung Sungai Sireh Tambahan 2 followed by Kampung Sungai Udang and Kampung Delek as well as others in the future, the programme also involves rubbish separation for recycling, a river beautification competition and landscaping works by MBDK.
Cleaning the river and its surroundings not only mitigates the environmental impact of urban development, but also promotes public health and safe recreation by reducing waterborne diseases.
